Default LG Blu Ray 25G BD-RE erasing problem

Hello, I just got a new LG computer blu ray burner and got the LG RE disc with it and made a movie and worked great with CyberLink software and then I wanted to use the disc for a new movie and went to do a quick erase and it was working for sometime and looked if the software locked up and I could not anything so I pressed the reset button and when the computer came up I could see teh blue lite flash on the drive and when I start to redo the quick format it starts and 10 minuets later the software says theres a problem and looks like it won't work, and the drive blue lite is still blinking..

Is there some other software I can buy that will force a format??? I don't want to loose this disc...

Thanks
Christopher

I would give Nero a shot (you can download a free trial)... but I wouldn't hold out too much hope honestly. I doubt its recoverable.

Edit: I just noticed that you had only done a "quick format." Use Nero and do a "full format." It will take a long time, but it may work, depending on exactly what the original error was.

If you don't want to download the entire Nero suite, give CD Speed (www.cdspeed2000.com) a try.

Hello all, thanks for the ideas, but no luck. I am thinking I need to low lever format this disc, I think it starts to erase then gets to a point it stops..

Does anybody know how to low lever format this disc, I read that this disc commands are the same from a DVDRW..

Thanks
Christopher

I'm not sure if it will work with BD-RE discs, but I've also used DVDInfoPro (www.dvdinfopro.com) to format DVD's that were otherwise unusable.

Hello Ian, it does work Blu Ray disc, I e-mailed Nic (maker of DvdInfo) and he said to update firware and see if that will make the burner complete erasing my disc...

I am having a hard time finding the LG GGW 20L latest firmware..

I will keep looking and report back..

Thanks
Christopher
