Where is MGM? - Blu-ray Forum

Does anybody know what is MGM up to these days? They don't seem to be releasing much of anything at all. Why is there such a lack of activity?

They have six bond films coming in two weeks.

They released CARRIE , Amityville Horror - basically bare bones releases.

Spinal Tap is coming in Jan and it will at least have EXTRAS!

and of course Bond Blu rays

So it seems they may be getting their act together. WE HOPE.

They made a lot of old movies. I like those because I'm old.

Its more like Constipation Boulevard; they're having a hard time releasing movies on blu

I'm very glad that they are bringing Bond to Blu, don't get me wrong. They have a lot of other great films though, and I would love to see them pick up the pace. They have a total of 13 discs so far after all. I'm not advocating quantity over quality either, but quality nothing is still nothing.

Most of those are postponed titles. According to blu-raystats.com, only 13 have been released.

MGM truly sucks, if they didn't had the Rocky and Bond franchises they would go down the drain. That's probably the reason why they've released 10 different version of Rocky and Bond on DVD.

MGM is barely a studio at this point. There is not much left but a shell of a major studio.

Well, the particular ones I am waiting for are Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal, but I'm sure they have to have something else I want

I want every single Bond film...and MGM has a bunch of WWII flicks that I can't wait to own in Blu.

Can't wait for these to come out. Silence of the Lambs is one of my favorite films. Let's just hope it doesn't get the Bare Bones treatment that Amityville did.

Fox is the distributor of MGM titles here in the USA, so your questions are best directed their way.

MGM hasn't put out a lot so far, but that changes with the old Bond titles later this year, Tap in January... my fingers are crossed for some Leone and Peter Sellers Pink Panther titles in '09!

I was wondering about that. Does that mean Fox decides what they release, or do they just distribute what MGM tells them to?

MGM decides what to release, not Fox.
