Default Which stores offer the best extended warranty on a new PS3?

I'd prefer longer than 2 years if possible as well.

I'm not sure if I'll buy but contemplating buying a new system versus getting mine fixed now (or waiting down the road to fix it).

I guess I'm impatient as well and don't want to be without a system for a couple of weeks, especially since I'm just getting into some new games. Plus it is used a ton for movies.

If you have a Costco or Sam's Club card, it is a no brainer. They have a Lifetime return policy and no questions asked. I've returned 2 XBox 360 with no problems at Costco. The conversation went something like this:

Me: I would like to return my Xbox (RROD)

They: Ok. Would you like an exchange or you money back?

Me: I'll take an exchange

They: Go ahead grab a 360 , bring it back here and I'll ring you up

Me: Walk out with a new 360 with a hot dog and pretzel.

Best Buy's new "Black Tie" protection plan has improved greatly and now covers accidental damage / misuse.

Thanks guys. I found out Target offers a 3 year for $30 as well.

Are you sure about lifetime with Costco? I thought that policy changed a while back? Maybe I'll call them tomorrow. Lifetime would be sweet if true.

Yeah, I've got the 3 year warranty through Target as well. First year, I had to take advantage of Sony's 1-year coverage to replace my 60GB. Thankfully, I got a brand spanking new 60GB replacement but I doubt I'll be lucky enough for that same deal when/if I have to make use of Target's since mostly likely they'll just swap out for the 80GB gimped units. I'd just simply call up their warranty service and hollar at them to simply swap out my optical drive with one of the 80GB unit ones if my drive goes bad, but beyond that guess I'll have to be treating my 60GB like an electronic baby and prevent harm to it

Their hotdogs are good, and not to mention cheap.

Lifetime for everything except TVs, computers, cameras and phones (I think I got everything), which is only 90 days. Heck, they even take back food if you don't like it! I once returned a 10 year-old roller bag that had been beat-up on airplanes to the point that it was falling apart. After they confirmed in the system that I did, in fact, purchase it at Costco (even though it was a Kirkland brand), they credited my AMEX the original purchase price. Gotta love that type of customer service.

I got the 3 year Wal-Mart warranty on my launch 60GB PS3. (Bought Nov 27, 2006). So,... I'm covered till Nov 26, 2009. Haven't had any trouble so I can't state how the resolution process goes.

Yep, you are correct sir. They don't care how its returned as long as you have the receipt. Once I needed money so I returned an item just to get my money back. After I had enough $$ I went back and re-purchased the same item cheaper.

I don't have a Costco in my town, but have a Sam's Club. Might have to go there if they have a similar policy. How much does that deal run at Costco?

That has changed for all electronics, but I'm not sure if that applies to the PS3 as Costco lists that product in their Toys/Seasonal department.

TV's, Computers and the like are listed in Electronics and you have 90 days to return the product. However, their "Conceirge" program gives you a FREE 2-Year warranty.

What deal? As long as you have a membership card you should be fine. I think its $50 Costco and $45 Sam's. They both have the same great return policy, not to mention great pizza and hot dogs.

They just started with a RIBS & FRIES combo in Costco Canada. Actually not bad at all!

I have found Best Buy to be better than ebgames/gamestop. Reason, if you system goes bad Best Buy will replace it repeatedly for the length of your contract. At ebgames/game stop, if the machine goes bad, they will replace it a single time and you have to pay more if you want to be able to do it again. I know this from experience because of my 360. I am on my fourth machine, two of which came from ebgames and one from Best Buy.
