Default VCR recording HD content?

Just trying to find out if it is possible to use an OLD VCR to record HD content off of a TV with a built-in HD tuner. TV is Samsung 650 series. Would it only be possible if the VCR itself had a tuner built in? I've tried possibly recording Line 1 or Line 2 with the VCR, but the TV signal doesn't reach it in those settings. Any info would be lovely. Sorry if this has been posted, "recording" has been stated in a few thousand posts.
