Default DVR/DVD/VCR combo or Blu-Ray Digital recorder?

Hey guys, hope this hasn't posted before. My grandma is looking to get something that can record over-the-air broadcasts, since VCRs won't do it (yes, we still have no DVRs, TiVos, or anything else. My questions are: Is there a blu-ray player that has a digital recorder in it? And if not, she's looking to get something that can record digitally, but also play/record to DVDs, and can play video cassettes. Any help would be much appreciated. Oh, and we're buying from Best Buy (have a $100 GC from her tv she bought....) Sorry, I know a bit about TVs and surround sound, but I don't know anything about digital TV recording.

I have one of those. Read my review as it is the first one. As long as grandma doesn't need a hard drive and knows to erase the disk, she should be fine.

Read all the reviews carefully.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, we're relegated to Best Buy ($100 GC), so I hope they've got that model, or something like it....

Did you seriously just ask for a VCR?????

You need to upgrade your collection to AT LEAST DVD.

There is no combo thing...

Not everyone can afford to replace 50 Videos with 50 DVDs or BDs. Personally, we NEVER watch any of her videos, and anything we do, we've got plenty of VCRs for. The problem is, it's cheaper to get a DVD/VCR/DVR with a tuner in it than to get a DVD/DVR, and apparently there still aren't any Blu-Ray players that have a hard drive and can record like a DVR can. I don't know why, though, if they want to make the switch, they need to start putting tuners in BD players and using them more as an entertainment system on the whole, instead of something you can only watch beautiful BDs on....
