** Petition to Bandai for GHOST IN THE SHELL 1.0 blu release ** - Blu-ray Forum

Is there any way to create a petition for Bandai to have GHOST IN THE SHELL released as a seperate blu-ray in 1080p and DTS? I think the recent 2.0 release is a kick in the balls.

But isn't the rights with Manga Entertainment? So why petition Bandai Entertainment?

Manga Entertainment has the US rights. Bandai has nothing to do with the first film. I do agree that the original version needs a proper US BD release of it's own considering how extremely poor the PQ of it is on the 2.0 BD. However, online petitions don't really work and Manga most likely wouldn't listen anyways.

You mention DTS, you mean 5.1/6.1 surround mixes like the dvds have? Both the Japanese and English audio were only recorded in stereo so what's present on the dvds are upmixes (and very poorly done ones at that). The DTS tracks that are on the R1 special edition dvd sound very hollow and are missing the LFE channel so there's no bass at all. They just sound all around awful. The Japanese BD of the original version only has stereo audio for a reason.
