So I ordered my Polk CSi A4 throuh one of Amazon's marketplace sellers (Electronic Expo). As part of their contract, they have this very inconvenient shipping policy with UPS that just doesn't work for people that have to work for a living. UPS tried to deliver my speaker yesterday and of course I was at work. So I called after I noticed they made an attempt so I can pick it up. I was told that shipper has a policy that UPS has to make 3 delivery attempts before I am able to pick up my package. What kind of BS is this? Amazon and Electronic Expo say this is for security reasons so they can assure the package was delivered. I never heard of anything more annoying before when it comes to shipping. What's the difference if I go to the UPS pickup center and show them my drivers license, Amazon order receipt, and UPS tracking info? So now I am working from home today just so I can be here to sign the stupid form.

I have always been able to pick up my items the day of the first failed attempt. I just call the number on the slip and tell them I'd like to pick up the item and then they call me when the delivery truck is back at the shipping center and they have the box up front for me to pick up. Not sure why they told you it took 3 failed attempts.

Well I've been told by Amazon and Electronic Expo that it is part of the contract and that they cannot make any exceptions.

firstly, this has nothing to do with amazon since you ordered off of the marketplace (unless you're referring to a third party seller affiliated with amazon, which is different from the marketplace). if, however, you ordered off the marketplace, the shipping falls on the seller. secondly, you can always call UPS and arrange for them to drop off your package at work instead of at your house. i've done it multiple times. thirdly, it's not like they have the policy to piss people off. most people appreciate it, as it cuts down on theft which is something they try to avoid. if they left it at your house or apartment and someone stole it, i guarantee you'd be complaining to UPS because they left it at the doorstep instead of getting a signature. they can't please everyone but they can make accommodations. just call them, i'm sure they will try and work with your schedule.

That is the thing. I did call. Both Amazon, their authorized seller, and UPS. They will not allow me to pick up at the UPS customer center by my house, have it delivered to my office, etc according to Electronic Expo's contract with Amazon. I don't want them leaving it on my doorstep, I understand that. Amazon haMy grip is waiting for 3 failed delivery attempts in order to be able to pick it up. For me, it should only be for the first failed delivery attempt.

It is Electronic Expo's fault. My guess is they have been the victim of fraud in the past like most other mail-order companies and required this in the shipping contract. I do think our country needs a better delivery system considering most adults do not have a person present at home all day like they used to in the past.

I'd try calling your local UPS office and seeing if you could pick up the package -the guys there probably won't care as long as you sign for it and show the proper ID
I mean, that is one less package that they have to take to your house and they can mark it as delivered to the door when you sign for it...those little notepads aren't that smart yet |
