Anyone else finding this increasingly annoying? - Blu-ray Forum

As I work my way through my Blu-Ray collection im noticing on the newer films, a truck load of previews.

3:10 to Yuma had 7. Thats 7 previews you are forced to watch before seeing the film. There were a few others I watched with just as many but the names escape me right now (I watched 3:10 last night so its fresh in my memory).

Now, I dont mind them putting all these previews on the BD's. Sometimes you see something you might be interested in, and thats good. But being forced to watch all that every single time you watch that film is a bit of a pain in the ... Just let me have a way to not watch them if I choose not to.

Am I alone in being annoyed by this increasing trend in the newer titles?

Urm, I've never been forced to sit through anything.
Just skip them.

I agree with the OP...it is getting horrendous..Lionsgate seems to be the worst...even moreso than Disney.

I was just thinking about this the other day. Remember when the only (SD) DVD's that had previews were the ones you rented? I was a little incentive to buy the movie.

FF through them. Sounds fun, considering they are around 2 minutes or more each, and are seperate tracks. So you have to FF 7 times.

Instead of dealing with something "wrong" over and over, why not fix it and just allow us the ability to go straight to the menu/film.

Dont be so ignorant.

Its not a matter of being lazy. Its a matter of not every player being able to get out of this with ease (and its not like I have some jim bob player) and thus, having to suffer through something that nobody really should.

If I wanted to sit through 20 minutes of previews, Id go to the damn movies.

"ignorant" you crack me up LOL!, look lazy, I have 6 different players & no problum with skipping through to the main menu with any of them NOW WHO'S IGNORANT

+1 I'm also sick of so many previews on discs. It's not so much of a big deal if you can just skip all of them by pressing 'Menu'. But on 3:10 to Yuma, you can't. There are literally as many previews as going to a more expensive movie theater.

Yes, you can 'easily' skip the previews by hitting skip a total of 7 times. But I paid full price for that movie. And for that, I'd expect they'd at least let you skip to the menu.

Well, my player does not allow you to jump to the menu on any of the discs ive had with previews on them.

So yes, it is really hard for some of us.

If it won't let you access the menu hit next chapter. It's never failed for me

Though I do agree that when you insert a disc it should go straight to the Main Menu. It does bother me some but not enough to 'cause me any grief

I agree with the OP, there is no reason not to let the user at least go directly to the menu instead of skipping over each commercial in turn.

I believe the point the OP is trying to make, when all is said and done, is that we've PAID for this movie, we're probably going to watch it multiple times, and after a few months, the previews will be out-dated; so why are we forced (in some cases) to watch them without having to go through several steps skipping them all to get to the feature that we want? I'm in agreement with him. We shouldn't have to be forced to watch them, or go through the inconvenience of having to fast-forward through up to seven previews before finally getting to the movie that we want. At the very least, let us have the option of just hitting one button to jump to the main menu.

Every movie I've had with previews I've been able to skip over the previews.

Yep. And when I try to press any number of the Menu's on the remote to bypass these endless previews, I get the message on the TV screen that this action is not possible, or words to that effect.

If they are new previews, I guess I wouldn't mind. But if you own a number of disks from around the same time from the same film company, then you typically get the same previews over and over.
