Default Tv Stand / Receiver Size

Ok, not sure where I should have started this thread, but since I'm mostly concerned of the size of my receiver...doing it here.

I have the Onkyo 606 and wondering if I'd have a problem fitting it in a TV stand that I can pick up at BB/CC or the like. I'm trying to hold the receiver, cable box, PS3 and center channel (R/L if possible). Should I be looking at a certain stand? Trying to keep around $250. Thoughts?

thanks,
Matt

a few points

1) You might have trouble finding a stand that can fit the 606 and still provide 2 or 3 inches above the top for ventilation... but find your measurement and go from there

2) You won't want to sent you L/R speakers on the stand, unless you are sitting really close to the TV (like 4 feet away), you'll want to place them off to the sides, spacing the speakers 6-12 feet apart if possible

thanks Allstar. Ya, that's why I put the R/L last (and if possible). I'd like not to, but I have some 8 year old HTIB speakers at the moment that don't look right (messes up the whole "big picture" as for as looks and cables are concerned).

If space at the top is a concern...which I know it is...what would you (or others suggest? I have a 50" DLP, so a hange on the wall tv solution might not apply for me.

If you only have, say, an inch of space, there are covers for receivers out there (don't know of any brands off-hand) that is basically a folded metal plate that directs airflow towards the back of the receiver and usually has some kind of fans to help do so... they're designed to allow you to stack components, but obviously have other applications as well

the best alternate solution would be finding a better stand... you may have to spend a bit more, but there are certainly stands out there that would fit your receiver... or make your own

I have this one and I have the Onkyo 805. It suits my needs fine and i think it is a decent price. Looks pretty cool too IMO. Not sure if this is the type of stand you were looking for?

I posted this in another thread, but it's relevant. It's what I own. Mine looks just like the Vitoria. You can see pictures of my setup in my sig.

The only difference is that the tempered glass isn't tinted. It's even manufactured by Z-Line and rebadged as Hometrends on the box. They don't have them online yet but they're available at most Wally's around my area, so they should be easy to find. I bought one, and they're a heck of a deal!

Yea same thing with my stand. But the feet on the Onkyo aren't at the edge, the are farther in underneath it so it should be fine.

Or these if you prefer them closed. That's what I have but they cost twice as much, still cheap though.
