Default Time to start IMPORTING!

The US dollar is reaching highs against the Euro and Canadian Dollar. It seems to be remaining this way probably through the end of the year if we are lucky. If you're in the US, Get to importing!

Highs for this year definitely, and maybe the last couple. Nowhere near where we were even 5 years ago though....

edit: in the interest of full disclosure, I am looking at possible importing some titles

So you're planning on importing... from Canada? Seriously though, the US dollar still sucks a lot.

Watch the U.S. dollar index. The U.S. dollar is currently at a 7 month low with the Yen so now is not a good time for Japanese imports. But it is a great time for EU imports. That Amazon.co.uk 3 for 2 sale that is going on right now is prime for people paying in U.S. dollars.

There's nothing wrong with Canada. They do get a few releases that we don't sometimes. I'm probably going to import a few European Steelbooks now.

A bunch of Imports on the preorder section of the home page this morning. Looks like Amazon is having some luck with them. Some expensive prices on there right now though. I'd consider The Island, but for close to 50 bucks? Eh, gotta hold off for now...

Yea I think it is a good time to import. I had heard that the Sweeney Todd blu-ray was a steelbook, so I checked it out, and after shipping, Its about 27-28 bucks. But I also read that they sold out of the steelbook on Amazon, and its just the standard. I dont know if its for certain. Maybe someone can clarify?

It's OOP, so if you just order it from Amazon.uk, you will get the regular case. Only way to get the Steelbook version is to verify it with the seller, typically on eBay.uk.

Amazon.co.uk used the sterling pound, not the euro, and at the time of this post the £ is up .04 cents[1.61338]

I have been importing lots of BD the last year but now it is impossible to import due to the fact that the dollar is getting to high so I cannot get most trough customs.

So looks like my importing days are almost over.

im guessing the OP is from the USA and the title may be misleading for people importing from the USA

Just get it direct from amazon.co.uk. Would be considerably cheaper (I even think they just sent me a 3 for 2 blu-ray email...), although just looking now, seems they have it at 17.98 (pounds). Probably jack up the price when they have a 3 for 2 sale just like us amazon... (Island's been out for over a year...)

Your cost would be less than 17.98, as they subtract VAT, and you would pay a little for shipping. I'd guess still cost you 30 bucks or so if you just bought it only.

I went to import Goonies from amazon.ca since the dollar was a little higher and the movie was listed at 19.99canadian, but when you go to check out it shows 32 and almost 10 for shipping. Like their charging full MSRP. Lame

Better than Japan, they have mandatory expedited shipping to the usa, costs about twenty bucks.
