Default Polar Express 3D Update??

i tried to find an old thread and could not find one- i apologize if this is not in the right forum...

are there any updates on the specific 3D technology being used? i assume blue/red glasses...

has anyone ever used the blue/red glasses for home viewing...i'm really interested in picking this up and trying it on our home theater but am pretty skeptical about the viewing experience...

also - is the 2D version included in blue ray format with the 3D release in case the 3D experience el stinkos?

AFAIK, both the 2D and the 3D version will be avaliable in the same package. As far as what technology is being used, I'm not sure but I think it's using the same 3D technology that went into the Hanna Montana blu ray. If anyone has seen that, I'd say it's a pretty good indicator on how the Polar Express will look.

I've also been wondering about these titles and whether the 3d will be successful. Anyone who has perspective, I'd love to hear.

I'm more concerned with the transfer. What are the odds the 2D version is getting a new transfer? I've heard not so good things about the original transfer (it was on a 15GB HDDVD afterall)

Does anyone know if the 3D version will be the version in the box set with A Christmas Story, Elf and Christmas Vacation? The Essential Holiday Collection.

I just want to know if EACH version the 3-D I believe for sure has a Dolby TRUE HD track but does the regular version or is it just the same disc from the first release.

I'm wondering the same thing. I have the first blu ray release and I'm fine with it. I mean it's not the best in my collection but it's certainly not the worst. However true hd audio with a new transfer and a kick butt 3D version to boot would be hard to resist.

Unfortunately the word seems to be that this set will include the original, reputedly poor release of Polar Express and not the 3D version.

Thanks quirkmanly, guess this means I'll have to join bajor27 in his boycott of Warmer titles. It's funny, I just sent WB an e-mail about this earlier and also asked if A Christmas Story would finally have 5.1 audio of some kind. No response yet.

I sold my Polar Express Blu-Ray to make room for the 3D release. From what I've read on this very site, it will include a Dolby TrueHD audio track and both 2D and 3D versions of the film, plus 4 pair of 3D paper glasses. That is enough of an upgrade for me.

Sorry someone mis read my prev post......

I was wondering if the new release of the Disc featuring the regular version of the film will contain a Dolby TRUE track or will it be the SAME Disc as the old release that DID not have a TRUE HD track... we know the 3-D version will have the HD audio track ..s o what about the other disc?

I would guess some sites will have reviews up any day now since it comes out next week. usually DVDempire posts the back cover art of cases early also... sometimes around Friday before the Tuesday release ... that could prove any info.

If the 2D transfer is better than the first release, then I am in. I might not even give away or sell the original. Probably shred the disc and keep the case as a spare.

Hopefully both versions will have lossless audio but if not, I'll probably still give the new one a shot just to try out the 3D.
