Default done upgrading/depressing

Well, i hate to say that my home theater is complete...and now im depressed....its been about a month.....and i miss buying new toys ... and i miss the excitement of getting big boxes in the mail....and i miss the "wow" factor due to getting used to all the wonderful speakers/gear..i think searching for the best gear, at the best price...is a big part of the fun when building your ht..now its over <sniffle> <sniffle>....only one thing left to do....

TIME TO UPGRADE EVERYTHING LOL

j/k

anybody else feel this way?

You finally get everything you want....then you want more!!!!

Yea man I feel the same way. Its like shoot I have everything I originally wanted, but now I just want more. I am still always on the lookout for that next purchase.

But in all honestly I am coming to realize real quick that we just have to learn to be happy with what we have. We are real fortunate that we even have a HT setup when most people around the world have never and will never experience Blu so instead of being sad its over lets be happy to what we get to experience now.

Oh yea its the worst. Drooling over other peoples setup or seeing them get the newest player, tv, receiver, etc. it definitely is an addiction and once you get sucked in its hard to leave haha. I sometimes check it multiple times a day for stuff, and at one point during the day Im just like..."wait, what am I doing? I have a sweet setup in my living room and a million other things to do, I gotta get off my dang computer."

Well now you should just buy lots of blu-rays and everytime you watch a movie, just watch and listen and appreciate your system. Thats how I feel everytime I watch a good movie with good sound.

How can you ever be done?

However, if it wasn't for this website, I wouldn't feel such a need to upgrade.

I know what you mean. My set-up blows away anything my friends and family have. But I come here, and Damn...

I am completely the opposite from what most have posted, although I do understand about the "upgraditis" bug and there is nothing better than bringing home and hooking up new equipment. It's certainly in the back of my mind and I know I'll never finish with my set-up.

However, I use my set-up as both a HT system and a 2-channel music system, and I LOVE my set-up. I enjoy the quality of picture and sound and it's always on. The first thing I do when I get home is to put on some music and then go about my "coming home" routines, like cooking dinner, blah, blah, blah.

It took me about 3 years to complete my current set-up ( the speaker componant part took 2 years on its own). So I was very careful to select and choose those brands/models that I wanted.

But I understand what you mean...

i suppose the itch to upgrade comes from missing that feel of excitement...after a month or so, any new toy doesnt feel as "new".... i enjoy my ht very much..i guess its like women....once you chase/hunt and finally get..after awhile..your ready for something new :X

I feel the same way, but I'm finished. I am truly happy with what I have and every time I watch a movie I'm blown away so I get that positive reinforcement. It's also a great feeling when friends or family come over and they are blown away. I used to think I would never be done, but honestly I don't want anything else right now. There are people out there with million dollar home theaters but how often do you think they get to use it? We have movie night every Friday night with friends and if I'm not at work I'm always watching something. Yesterday I watched Daredevil and The Hulk. PQ and AQ were awesome.
So while we may not all have what we think is the best, we should be thankful for what we have. There are a lot of folks out there right now that have lost their homes, jobs etc. I'm content with what I have. It's now time for me to work on my work shop, time and money permitting.

I agree WHOLE HEARTEDLY with both of you!! I feel the same way as far as wanting more, yet I do understand that we are very lucky to even to be able to live free and have what we have.

Now with the economy, its probably wise to slow down on purchases and lay low until we all rebound.

I never look for people selling stuff because they're in a financial bind because it could just as easily happen to anybody.
