Default was wondering why................

so many ppl have 1080p tv's that are 50" or under in size?? i know alot of ppl may be the $$ factor to afford a bigger one. now i am talking both LCD & Plasma tv's. i also realize that for some it may be the size of the room to fit it in. it just seems like alot of ppl i see buying tv's or looking at some of the sigs on the site have tv's smaller than 50".

i see alot of 32, 37, 42, , 40, 46 inch tv's

i figure bigger is better? or do ppl prefer smaller sets? do they have better PQ than larger ones? or is it all preference??

just some thoughts i have had and noticed this past week

I originally got a Sony 46 but it was too big for my room so I had to settle for a 40 since they don't make a 42.
I wish I had the place for a bigger TV but I don't.

Ya i am just surprised as to how many ppl have under 50" tv's for their HT rooms. i was always a big screen person and had a 60" sony for a while and now a 56" samsung. i wish i could afford a 60" pioneer, 58" panny plasma or a 65" sharp aquos but i am happy with what i got for the money

i was thinking if i bought a better tv but went smaller i dont know if i could handle it my HT room is 18'L x 12'W, so i have plenty of room for a large tv. if i went smaller i think it would be lost in the room.

For me it was all about proportion. I was also initially limited by the size of my entertainment center. I made modifications that allowed me to buy the largest TV that made sense for the room (46"). Ok...Ok...I had a tight budget from the wife (the truth comes out). There, I said it.

Key is buying for your viewing distance.

We bought a 40 inch because it was all we could fit in the TV stand that the wife just couldn't part with. Two months later, she wanted a new TV stand. Freaking women.....

Space and price definitely seem to be the factor. I have a very awkward TV space that really limits things. At this point at 46", the only way I could go bigger would be how the TV was designed. The 46" Sony has speakers all the way around and, if they could drop the speaker thing, I could have gone bigger. That said, got a great deal on this when I bought it so I can't complain. Also, went up from a small 32" to this so it was a pretty decent upgrade. Still want a larger screen but, can't do much with the space I have.

In my case, I wanted a 73" Mitsubishi or the 67" Samsung LED DLP but they were just a bit bulky; and living on the 2nd floor in an apartment when its time to move- it would be a ***** carrying one of those beasts downstairs. So after researching, comparing, and hands-on tweaking of several LCD and Plasma models; I settled for my 58" Samsung ToC Plasma which was so lower priced online than retail stores and discount clubs. I was considering the 65" Sharp Aquos SE since I own a 32" Aquos but it (65") was above my budget constraints. People have told me that my tv is way too big for my apartment but what the hell you only live once so treat yourself right... its all about looking out for #1 but don't step in #2. So next weekend once my break-in period is done it will be an all Marvel Marathon (Blu-Ray of course) at my place!!!

looks like i was kinda right, there are alot of ppl here that have tv's smaller than 50" for their blu ray pleasure

you ppl with say 37"-46" tv's, how is the PQ of the blu movies on them? i do know that it depends on the tv, but is the pq better with a smaller tv? i have heard this from others??

PQ looks great, in my opinion. I'd like to move up to a bigger size but can't afford it, currently.

I was originally planning on buying the 50" sony a3000 but said what the hell and got the 60a3000 instead. Viewing distance is about 10 feet. I have always heard that you should buy the largest tv your budget/room allow to avoid buyers remorse. After having a 60" there is absolutely no way I could go back to 50" or smaller at my seating distance.
