Well you know I never miss a chance to mention Kurt Sutter but he called it the greatest show of all-time and his biggest inspiration when writing for the Shield, and Sons of Anarchy. Though expect to see A LOT of full frontal male nudity and guy on guy rape every episode lol. It is a very very violent show, very dark, very brutal, very disturbing, and you're going to recognize probably 90% of the cast and love all of them. If you've ever seen Law and Order: Special Victims, except to see Christopher Meloni enjoying lots of man sex.

Damn dude....it's not THAT bad.

There ARE a lot of guy/guy sex stuff in there, and there is Male frontal nudity (Luke Perry in later seasons if you're into Dylan), but it's a really good show despite that. lol.

Really violent and a lot of bad language.

Excellent acting all around, especially Dean Winters (aka the 1st season cop on SVU) plus his brother Scott William Winters (who played the guy who locked Doakes into the trunk of his car in Dexter).

There's a lot of Law & Order cast members that were in the show, including Christopher Meloni as a sociopathic bi-sexual inmate, and the psychiatrist (aka Peter Parker's Boss)

At least THREE members of the show Dexter were on there. Laguerta, Doakes and Batista.

Plus tons of other actors you'll recognize.

Wait until the episode where Beecher flips out on Schillinger in the weight room.

classic...right up there with the knife scene in American Me.

I loved Oz, by far my favorite HBO drama.

Begin from the first episode and watch them all in order and you'll be glued.

As what was said by the other posters if you like a lot of current crime drams you'll feel right at home with the cast.

I also suggest picking up season 3, which was a double season (16 episodes instead of 8) with the build up to the midway point of season 3 being the most riveting the series ever got.

Many people believe the Oz went downhill after that point but I still enjoyed the rest of the series.

You should expect lots of shanking, raping, stabbing, race/faction wars and murder.

I think it's a fairly decent show. Though I still have trouble watching some of the more disgusting scenes.

It's amazing. And you will likely go through it so fast, because it's that gripping, that you'll want to watch it again.

Yeah it's another show that the 101 network pretty much airs year round for us DirecTv subscribers. I've been waiting for it til wrap up it's final season in repeats so they can start it all over again and I can catch it again. I realized it was midway through season 3 when I saw they where broadcasting it again, and with only 1 episode a week, 6 seasons take a long time.

Thats one show where I actually own all 6 seasons on dvd, but viewing them in HD would be very nice. I wish they would release them on blu. Amazing show! Yo gamma my fav 3 characters are Adabeesi, Syed, & O'Reilly. Let us know which characters u like as u go through it. Got Em!!

See I was just going to ask about that lmao, I know they try to keep it real I just was hopping they could take out male nudity/rape for me , and that bolded part scares me no matter how great the show is... One reason I haven't just bought up all the seasons

I want to watch it cause I think it would be real interesting and I have heard tons of good things about it.. But that rape/naked dudes is just the 100000000000 pound elephant in the room lol.

Watched seasons one & two, but somehow I was never compelled to go pick up the remaining seasons. I'm not sure why, exactly. I did have a little issue with the realism here & there (uh, not that I'd really know about that first hand), sometimes I would roll my eyes at certain security situations - and I rarely do that. I always meant to try and finish off this series but I don't know if I ever will.

What do you mean by roll you're eyes at security situations?

I have not watched my DVDs for years, and it is hard to recall specific events, but I remember finding a lot of scenes unbelieveable (I mean to say, I think to myself "a real prison would never put prisoners in that situation, too dangerous!"). Since I can't cite specific examples, maybe I shouldn't have brought it up.

That show has a very good portrayal of certain prisons actually. Also u have to realize that Em City was an experiment and that allowed a lot more freedom so of course there were situations where in a normal lockdown or max security etc....things might not take place. Got Em!!
