Game looks bad

recently I played Madden 08 and noticed that the game doesnt look as good as it did the last time I played it. Which was 2 weeks ago.

It looked fine at that time but now it looks like a PS1 game. I havent changed any settings.

you probably just played MGS4 and now when you play madden 08 it looks bad

Im pretty sure nothing was messed with. My tv is a 720p. The settings are the same. Does the PS3 have settings? I've checked and didnt see anything. I do not have HDMI cables for my PS3.

Im sure it's not the tv. The picture is the same. Looks great on the HD channels. It's the game that doesnt looks so good now.

Are you saying that after you do the system up date they can alter the game quality of 08 to force you to buy 09 or you just don't remember the weak graphics ???

Did you recently purchase the PS3? It does have settings in XMB, for both video and audio. What cables are you using, the composite ones it came with? If you are using composite or component, switch to an HDMI cable. You will be able to tell the difference, even on a 720p set. For what it's worth I thought Madden 08 looked like crap anyway, and I am using an HDMI cable going to my 50" Sony SXRD. Madden 09 looks far better in comparison.

Ive had it for over a year now. Yes Im using the composit cables it came with. But the game doesnt look as good as it did when I played it last. Even my other games dont look quite as good.

Or S Video, or Component, ANYTHING other than the cable it came with. With a composite cable you're not getting anywhere near the quality that the TV can provide.

I plan on getting an HDMI for it. But I cant understand why all of a sudden the games dont look as good as they did. One day they looked great the next they look like a PS1 game.

Get the HDMI that one that is made by Sony for the PS3 I have it and all the games look amazing on my tv.

no need to get the one made by sony! any hdmi cable will work, just go to monoprice.com. buying name brand hdmi cables is pointless and way to expensive when to does not need to be.

WRONG.

Purchase your HDMI cables from Monoprice. There is NO need to purchase an HDMI cable made "specifically for the PS3", as there is really no such thing. Any good quality, inexpensive cable will do just fine.

It doesn't matter I was just saying what I had and I have no problems with any of my games I have.

To the OP- I would definately go get an HDMI cable if i were you. I can pretty much 100% primise you it will fix everything. Go to monoprice and get an HDMI cable for 7 or 8 bucks. They work 100% the same as those 35 billion dollar monster cables.

Who cares? Just... get an HDMI cable. ...really. If you're that desperate to find out, im sure SOMEBODY here will know. Maybe something is wrong with your cable? I have no idea. Just... HDMI. Fixed.

did you hold down the power button to long and switched it back over to standard instead of high-def?? i did that once and had the same problem. to fix it you just hold the button down again when powering it on for like 5 seconds and it will switch back to high-def.... but if this is not your problem i have no clue then

I think your memory is failing you. Any PS3 title is going to look like death warmed over when using the supplied R/Y/W composite cables. Get component or HDMI cables and you'll immediately see a huge improvement.
