Is it safe touse Goo Gone on slipcovers? All of my Bond slipcovers have those movie cash stickers on them and when you peel them off it leaves a ton of residue and ink..

I had almost forgotten the frustration of the dreaded sticker residue, but I unsealed my copy of Deja Vu (won for free in that Blu-ray training awhile back, had seen the film shortly before I got it, so I never opened it) last week to find the old school top sticker/side and bottom security sticker combo. WD40 worked like a charm, but man, what a pain in the ass. I don't miss having to go through that with every disc. I wonder what was different about that adhesive vs. what they used on DVD's. The stuff they used for BD seemed only a couple steps shy of epoxy.

Never used the stuff myself, but I wouldn't even risk using it on a slipcover.
You can do a couple things to get rid of the sticky residue and ink. One would be to take the e-movie cash sticker and press it down again then pull it back off. And another I tried was to use one of those stickers on the tops on the BD releases, just keep pressing it on and peeling it back off. Takes a few minutes but worked for me. ![]() Someone in another thread suggested using tape as well. |

Alright I've got some good news for all of those OCD guys out there, like me..
![]() I went to Wal-Mart and picked up the spray bottle version of Goo-Gone. It looks just like a bottle of Windex, but the fluid is orange. I sprayed a small amount on a paper towel and gently rubbed the residue left on the slipcovers on all of my Bond blu-rays. I then took a slightly dampened paper towel and wiped away the excess. Finally I dried the slipcover with a cloth. Not only did the Goo-Gone completely eliminate the glue, but it also removed the ink left behind by the sticker. Also, there was absolutely no discoloration or damage to the slipcover at all. I cannot recommend this stuff enough. So, if you are anal about sticker residue go pick up some Goo-Gone, just make sure to get the weaker spray bottle version. |

I have had no issues using goo gone on slipcovers. It has not eaten the plastic or done any damage to any of mine. I have had to use it on 5 or 6 covers that had the residue left on them.

This method will not harm slipcovers. I use it all the time.
The simplest, cheapest, and best solution: rubbing alcohol. All you have to do is use a q-tip to dab some on the cover and rub over it a few times. Any residue will come right off. No stains at all and it dries almost instantly. This is 100% dependable. |
