Default Why is te PS3 so awesome!?!?!

Ok now I have had my PS3 for about a monthish or so.

(by the way before anyone says this has been dicussed already I tried the search function and either i don't know where it is or I don't know how to use it correctly)

And I love it it's the best. Now I love it because It loads so freakin fast. Thats one of my main reasons, there are more but thast not really all that important. Ok now here's my question, since the PS3 is so fast and there are crap loads of updates so fast for it compared to the standalone players out there. Why is it that the other players (standalone) aren't the same way. I mean, if the PS3 has lots of updates so frequently, why don't manu. do the same for standalone's, and why don't the standalones able to load as fast as the PS3, and lastly why is it that the PS3 practiaclly have no issues playing BD vs. standlalone's always havong issues. Is the chip set in the PS3 the real driving force behind it. If thats the case why don't all them have it.

I know quite a bit to read but I've been wondering this for a time now.

I think it's a bit of apples and oranges.

PS3 has certain capabilities of stand alone players but it's fundamentally different in it's capabilities and operation.

It's like comparing a computer or HTPC to a stand alone DVD player... The computer has various advantages and additional capabilities but it's more complex as well.

I'm glad I have the PS3. When I bought it was either the $600/$500 PS3 or the $1200 Sammy P1000 which is pretty much a junk player. (A friend of mine still loves the sammy P1000 but when he gets Blu Rays from Netflix it's hit or miss if they will play or not.)

New standalone players do load as fast as the PS3 and my 550 was less expensive than a PS3 sorry but the PS3 is no longer the Best player on the market

SA's will soon leave PS3's in the dust, if not already. I currently own a PS3, though, and I love it!

PS3's are good all around gaming/blu-ray players. But not the best blu-ray players anymore. Stand alones have come into their own lately.

I was looking for a gaming and HD player and the PS3 was a no brainer for me.

Having it wireless for firmware updating is a big plus with me.

The newer standalone players may be as fast as the PS3 but don't forget all it takes is one update by Sony and it'll be back on top. On the long run, The PS3 is future-proof and will win in the end. End of Rant so far.

On a serious note, I believe that, for the value, the PS3 is best blu-ray player since it's a powerful gaming machine, a media center, has wi-fi, and obviously, plays blu-rays. But, I have a Sony S550 and I think that it's an overall better player since it can bitstream and decode all codecs and it has analogs too for those that don't have HDMI. It may not be quite as fast as my PS3, but it has surprised me at how quick it can read some blu-rays, like Iron Man and Transformers. Plus, I think the PQ on the S550 is just a tad better than the PS3. And, bitstreaming is awesome! Love my Onkyo 606! And oh yeah, I got my S550 for $271 w/tax and shipping with the Sony Card deal! Awesome!

But it's still a good gamming system right .

So it's not the best blu-ray player anymore big deal.
I think a lot of PS3 owners should still feel good about there units.

I bought a RX-v3800 reciever, now there's a RX-v3900 with two HDMI out plugs.Does this mean that my reciever i have is CRAP now. Ofcourse not.

Wait in a couple more years, then maybe we all might be complaining on are blu-ray players, who knows.
I say just be grateful that we have players that accutally work

Exactly! That's why I took the liberty of being the grammar Nazi in this case! But, I concur, whatever DID happen to proper English? It seems almost non-existent nowadays... it's a shame, really.

some people choose not to use proper english and that's annoying. but in some cases, it's unintentional. you can't make fun of someone who's trying their best.

Good point. I agree as well. We were just teasing though... . I can honestly that English is a very hard language to learn for non-native speakers. I speak fluent Spanish and French so I can say that about those who speak those languages. BTW, speaking of France, for those who haven't noticed, my avatar is none other than the French pop singer, Alizée! God, she's beautiful!
