Most/Least Surprising Moment of 81st Academy Awards - Blu-ray Forum

Pretty simple. List what you found the most surprising (whether it was an award winner, or just something they did), and the least surprising thing (whether it was an award, or something they did).

For me:

Most surprising: Penn winning for Milk.

Least surprising: Ledger winning for The Dark Knight.

Honorable mention: Charlton Heston seemed to get very little reaction from the crowd, when they played the video showing the people who passed away in the past year (surprising); Paul Newman got the biggest reaction (not surprising).

no surpries to me but I did notice the lack of applause for film great
Charlton Heston on the "film passings" section. Roy Scheider should have gotten more applause as well-- heartbreaking...

Least Surprising:

Slumdog {the Oscars pet project for this year} winning the majority of the awards for the categories they were nominated in.

Most: A movie very few of us had the option to watch walking away with a truckload of awards.

Other Most: Wolverine doing a great job w/ the hosting duties

Least: Heath winning. Had he lived he would have deserved that award. That he got it while dead was no surprise.

. I pretty much agree with the OP, i thought Rourke or Langella was taking the oscar home.

most shocking moment.. every time they showed Mickey Rourke on camera

the dude don't look real good and always looks stoned to me. He was visibly shaking for some reason.

surprising moment - Penn winning for Milk. (i am glad he did though)

Least surprising moment..yeah you guessed it... how the Oscars always run over time.

Most Surprising: Wall-E not winning for any of the sound categories

Least Surprising: Man On Wire winning for Best Documentary and Heath Ledger winning for Best Supporting Actor

Side note on the Penn thing: I wasn't all that surprised that he won, but I hate it when public figures, who are not in political office, foam at the mouth and spew their political agendas onto an unsuspecting audience. I can assure you that no one tuned in to hear Sean Penn talk politics.

It surprised me that I sat thru the whole show. It was oh so boring and I really hate musicals.
