Default Have any silent films been released in Blu-ray yet? Any scheduled for release?

I am looking forward to Metropolis, The General and Flesh and the Devil.

They probably pushed the Metropolis date back a bit, since they found the new footage. I believe Kino said they wanted to include the new-found footage with their Blu Ray release, so it'll take some time for them to re-master that.

But nothing else announced yet. I assume we'll get some Chaplin next.

I would love to watch the The General.. it was train silent movie.. the main character was deemed not worthy to marry his sweethart because he worked on a train instead of being in the army.

I watched it in theater arts 4...

They can surely have PCM right, it won't take up much more room than a DTS HD-MA track

Good point. Silents might not be conducive for BD release. On the other hand, BD could help improve silents original, new and piano scores.

"Wings", the first Best Picture Oscar winner is rumored. That was silent, wasn't it?

You're forgeting one small detail: the picture. Even if sound is less of a concern, which it shouldn't due to any music, the picture will be improved. That makes silent films viable on Blu.

Picture is what it's all about when your dealing with silents. Most don't talk about the silent movie score when sharing their thoughts about a silent movie that most people have not seen.

Well the only silent film I'm aware of features a nearly silent actor in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back??

Considering the available space there would be room for several soundtracks, single piano, organ, full orchestra, modern composition, etc...as well as several commentary tracks
