Default Old Projector - Sharp LCD Projector XV-Z1U

I found one of these used and real cheap. Owner states two of the prisms are not 100%. Would this affect picture quality?

I am thinking about getting this so I can play my PS3 when my GF is watching tv so it will not be used often or in an ideal setting.

depending on how cheap "cheap" is.....

GO FOR IT..... even if the PQ isn't great, you'll have a HUGE image for cheap

I guess what is "not 100% mean" ??? If he can go look at the projector in action, that would be best.

I'd definitely ask some questions first.

Like what? I don't know a lot about projectors. It comes with the original manual and a spare bulb but no remote. Remote is not a big issue.

The projector sounds a bit iffy, but at that price, you're not risking a lot.

You probably want to check the convergence on the LCD panels, either with internal test patterns, or with a test disc such as Digital Video Essentials. Also check for dust blobs (blurry, possibly colored spots) on the projected image, and the ability of the image to focus. Bring some test material that you're familiar with to see the clarity of the image, as well as color accuracy.

This projector model is close to 10 years old, and much has happened with display technology over that time, so I would expect that you might find the image quality to be lacking compared to more modern projectors.

Good luck!

Apparently there is a yellow circle and that is the prism issue. I am checking it out Friday.

the biggest factor is smoke
take a wiff, smoke will turn everything yellow and is tough to get off
