Default Band Of Brothers technical question

I love this show. I've been through the DVD's about 5 times over. They were and still are (in my opinion) some of the best masters in terms of AQ and PQ ever to appear on DVD.
So, is the Blu-Ray really worth getting? Normally i wouldn't ask this question, but i'll be asking it again when Saving Private Ryan eventually comes out. Both are shot with a deliberatly washed out look, quite bleak, with a fair bit of grain thrown in to give the films an air of, ummm... "oldnes".
Obviously the sound will be improved. But its gonna be £60?
The final reason i'm writing about this is, here in the UK, B.O.B is becoming available on Virgin medias high definition on demand service. At time of writing only two episodes are available, but watched back to back with my DVD's, i really can't see much of a difference. OK, this is only 720 HD, but i was sitting close to my Panasonic plasma, and i was disappointed to see virtually no change.
Will it be worth £50-60 when it arrives.....?

Worth it... YES!!!

The BBC showed the first 2 episodes of BOB this week after Newsnight on BBC2. Thankfully my BD version from amazon.co.uk arrived and I didn't have to suffer this again. From amazon.co.uk the box set was £34.98 not £60.00.

The PQ is excellent. The colors are indeed washed out in many scenes, but the resolution is excellent. There is grain in some scenes which is quite apparent, but does not detract from the enjoyment of the series.

The difference between SD and the 1080P BD is marked.

Absolutely worth it! As Kirsty said, it is only £34.98 on Amazon UK, which is where I got my copy. For your money, you get 10 hours of awesomeness. as well as loads of extras!

The Master Audio is incredibly active, ricochets, bullets wizzing past, the sound of fighters and bombers. Dialogue is clear during the action too, which is good.

The new special features provide the added value that makes this set worth purchasing again. The PIP commentary with the Easy Company veterans and the Interactive Timeline are cool new ways to watch this series. Because of the stylized nature of the film, some scenes are not as noticeable an upgrade as you might expect, but other scenes (for example, the Bastogne episode) really stand out. Well worth purchasing again, especially seeing as how much you have enjoyed it over the years.
