Default Journey to the Center of the Earth: Does it require the latest firmware upgrade?

I haven't yet installed the latest firmware on my Sony 300. Bought Journey to the Center of the Earth and it won't play. Trying to figure out if it's related to the firmware, or possibly just a defective disc. Any ideas? Thanks!

If it doesn't work and you know there's a firmware upgrade, the very first thing I would do is update the firmware. Then try to figure out if it's defective or not.

Can someone give me a brief review of the actual film? I bought this but haven't opened it yet and I'm having second thoughts. I can rent it via netflix so I'm tempted to exchange it for a more "collection worthy" title.

I enjoyed the movie, but was very disappointed about the lack of a lossless audio track. I expected much better since it was originally released in Imax, you know there's an awesome soundtrack that should have been included.

It played fine on mine with version 4.2, which is a month or so old.

4.3 is available now, I updated yesterday.

Here's is the best solution for your problem. You shouldn't have bought the machine in the first place. blu-ray players need constant updating. This is why you should only buy a ps3 for your blu-ray player needs. Sony will never let that blu-ray machine die and will always have the latest firmware available. Other blu-ray players will come and go, but the ps3 will be the first to come and last to go.

If the blu-ray manufacturer quits making firmware for your player, you're screwed. It won't matter how much you saved on that player in the beginning, if it won't play blu-rays. Again, you should stick with ps3 for all your player needs. The money you save with players other than ps3 won't compensate you for the added stress you'll endure.

I loved the film. One has to fiddle around with brightness and contrast settings to get the 3-D to look right, but I believe it is well worth it.

Thanks, Squid. The last update I did was early August, so I believe there have actually been TWO upgrades since then. I'm sure that's why my disc isn't working.

And Dr. Blu....um, thanks for your input?

Default yes do an upgrade but only depends on your blu ray dvd player

depends on your blu ray player and if you need to update the firmware on it , if so then you should just call the company of your blu ray player and they will send one . after the update it should work , mines did on my lg blu ray multi player bh 100 .. the upgrade worked great, and i was able to watch the journey to the center of the earth in 3d on blu ray
