installing windows problem (XP PRO) - Blu-ray Forum

im redoing windows on a toshiba laptop

it well do the formating and then it gets stuck at

\windows\ime\imejp

Windows can not create this folder

and well not continue

Does anybody know what the hell this folder is, and why its not creating?

If you happen to be downgrading from vista, you have to format the hard drive first.

IME is the Input Method Editors (complex character/language pack for East Asian languages...Chinese, Japanese and Korean) and IMEJP is the Japanese character pack.

A couple questions:

1. Is this an OEM version or Retail version of XP Pro? English or Asian Version?
2. If Retail, is it the original XP Pro (without SP1) or does it include a Service Pack?

There was a known issue with non Service Pack versions of XP and a machine with more than 3GB of memory installed. The same problem exists with Vista. You have to pull memory to get below 3GB and then format and install Windows XP or Vista. The only thing is I can't remember if this is when these language packs were being installed.

3. How old is the computer? You could have a bad sector on your hard drive.

I would google your problem or do what "John72953" said and try the forums.
