Default Dvdit Pro problem

Hi,

I've been trying to use dvdit pro to author blu ray discs and I've got a 1920x1080p wmv file. The problem i'm having is when I author it, it reduces the resoltuion to 1440x1080 which kinda defeats the purpose, any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Also how is that movie studios can get over two hours onto a blu ray disc at 1080p but when we author it only allows about 2 hours??

thanks!

hey. there is no reason the software should be resizing your video. when you import the WMV into DVDit, please right click on it and select properties. Does it show as 1440x1080 or 1920x1080?

As to hours of content you can put on a disc...DVDit Pro HD is HD MPEG-2 only. On a 25GB disc that is about 2 hours for 1080i/p content at 24 mbs. AVC and VC-1 get similar results at lower bit rates (like half the bit rate). For now, until the app. supports those other codecs, you can either reduce the 1080 bit rate in the project settings (to maybe 18-20mbs and see what it looks like) or you can do 720p and can get good results at 15 mbs and can have perhapd 3 hours of content.

The files says 1920x1080, but when i click on project settings it says the MPEG file is to be outputed at 1440x1080 and I can't change this.

I've tried using PowerProducer now and it resizes my videos, it retains the resolution but the picture has borders on the left and right, I tink it goes down to 4:3. Any Ideas on how to avoid this? Or any recommendations of good authoring software for blu ray?

Thanks for all ur help!

Ok another question, Nero converts to Mpeg 4 AVC right? If you were to write the file on a blu ray would u be able to play that disc on a blu ray player, which was plugged into a TV? Sorry i'm going a little off the post!

there is no place in the DVDit Pro HD project settings that says that video will be output at 1440x1080. the only setting that references frame size is for the menus and slideshows. otherwise, the software simply leaves the frame size unchanged, or if the frame size is not BD legal takes it up to the next legal size. 1080i and 1080p video that measures 1920x1080 should be unchanged on output. to check this, transcode a small sample, go into your temp folder and pull the transcodes (in a folder called project). put the transcodes back into DVDit Pro HD and then right click on the file to check it's properties.

No idea on your Nero question...but highly doubtful.

thats the problem, I've tried with a wmv file from the wm-hd trailers and it works, but on the movies I have it doesn't. Is this because of the file I'm using?

seems DVDit will convert a file to the most fit size, maybe it has wrongly check this size.
I am disappointed about DVDit since it can only output mpeg2 video, not vc-1 or h264
