Default DVD-R with DVDit Pro HD

Can't get my sammy to play DVD-r with DVDit Pro HD. Understand this is a firmware issue. Understand that the pioneer can play. can anyone confirm what others can. I was tying to get the pioneer, but everyone is out. i understand that some panisonics can, but some not (firmware). I undestand only sammy firmware can (but i can't seem to get anyone to send it to me).

I shoot amerature underwater HDV and have been burning BD with the sony burner, but so far have been making extreemly expensive drink coasters.

The Panasonic can with the latest firmware.

Be wary that there seem to be bandwidth limitations though - I have not tested to see what they are exactly but 25 may be a problem (less than 20 appears to be fine).

even with the original firmware, the Samsung can't play the content off of a DVD-R only off of a BD-R. Maybe if you use a DVD-RE and format the disc with UDF 2.5 first...but I don't think so since the UDF should be in the image that you output with DVDit Pro HD.

Default Thanks

Hay Thanks...

I'll wait for a few responses before spending the $$$$. I'll try to pull-together a "spreadsheet" of player-firmware-capability for the group. I really need to get this done. I have lot's of vid of a turtle that i shot in grand turk that i am very happy with, but can't watch it. for everyone, it may not seem like much, but for the divers in the group, it is very cool, you just have to trust me....

I would like to hear about Pioneer and DVDR / BDR / BDRE with BDMV image compatibility.

If anyone can shed light on this I would appreciate it also

Default Panasonic Bandwidth

Thanks for the info on the Panasonic.. I'll include it in the spreadsheet. I don't have the spec in from of me, but 25 seems to sit in my mind.... now i am a practical guy, what does 20 -v- 25 get you? i realize, not "the matrix -- reloaded", but i shoot underwater... and not sharks, just turtles and fish, so there is not a lot of "high intensity action" involved...but a lot of color and some "action". basically, I shoot for "contrast negative seperaiton". I can usually encode at about 7-12MPS CBR without too much problem. I am a long way from 20 CBR... Can a pro or two chime in here.... what is the real-life CBR or VBR required to encode non-high-intensity-action...

thanks, hugh

I would recommend getting a BD-RE first to test your results.

I believe the Panasonic, Pioneer and the Sammy (with the original firmware )allowed \BDMV. PS3 is definitely not working and I believe Philips is not working also... If you want to universal playability, you probably have to use the \BDAV format as all players are supposed to support this.
