Default Philips TV problem

Hello!
I'm pretty sure everyone here who is a seasoned veteran of the Blu-Ray player will think the following questions are pretty basic, but I would certainly appreciate some help.

I have a Philips Rear projection 55" HDTV that can handle 1080i (max) resolution. It's a 16:9 and we've never had a problem with it, the picture quality in 1080i is outstanding still, and really like the tv, so I'd hate to upgrade it unless I have too. I would like to get a blu-ray player, but I know there are a few major things in connectivity that have changed.

This TV predates DVI connection as the standard. (I know HDMI is the standard now) The connection on the back looks like a vga connection you would see on a PC. I've never ran across a cable or adapter that would at least change this to DVI. Are there things out there to handle this that I'm unaware of?

I would appreicate any help to solve this, as the wife sees the current tv as fine, and would resist an expensive update to LCD.

i think you would connect a blu-ray player to your tv with component cables. red/green/blue.

For HDMI use you'll need this and this.
