Default Almost Famous covers & playability

looking around for a Christmas prezzie for my wife, want to get an upgrade of our Almost Famous.. Wondering if anyone knows the difference between these two.. is it just a case of one is Australian and one is UK? Theater vs Extended? And are both region free?

The UK disc is region-free, I haven't been able to confirm whether or not the Australian of Japanese versions are.

I have this, I will check to see if it's region-free. I can tell you that there are several extended scenes and a few new scenes that were included at the beginning of the film. Whether or not that is consistent with the other extended editions, IDK.

Japan is in the same region as the USA so theres no question there. I have the UK version, unaware of any of the Australian specs

Aus is the same region as the UK, yes? so it's likely playable.

The more I think on it, the more I think the cover on the left is the theatrical release. When it first came out on DVD, there was the theatrical release with that same image of Kate, and a Bootleg version (which may have fooled me on the blu, which says bootleg also)

I think I'll need to cancel that purchase and find a UK extended copy (the Japanese version is over $40)
