Default Help With TV and Audio Decision

OK I need some advice my g/f dad is in the market for a new tv for christmas he was going to buy a 42" Vizio LCD for $700 but I told him to hold off and let me see if anyone has a better tv for the same price..So guys and suggestions it has to be a 42" or bigger and a LCD

Also another buddy I just converted him to Blu-ray and he now wants hd audio, he is using a PS3 for the bd player and wants a 5.1 system that is htib he was looking at the onkyos (I know he would be better off just saving for a real system but he doesnt have the money and wants something now) so if anyone knows of a good HTIB that can do the hd codecs for $500 or less that would be great

Thanks

As far as the TV, you may be hard pressed to find another one in that price range.

However, for $550 on Amazon, your friend can get this Onkyo HTiB.

http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HT-S6100...7710873&sr=8-1

Or for about $570, he can get an Onkyo 606 receiver and the Polk 6750 speaker package.

Yes, it comes with the 606 receiver.

You may want to suggest the Polks. They are better speakers than the ones in the Onkyo HTiB.

There's an $800 50" Samsung at Best Buy (and Walmart) for Black Friday. It was also a 720p.
