Default Sony BRAVIA 5-Disc 5.1 Theatre System

I was thinking of purchasing this and was wondering if its a good buy. The model # is DAVHDX975WF.

Its has s-air technolgy so no use for wires (wondering if it would be static)

Anyone own one?

Those wireless speakers have to get power from somewhere, so they're not truly wireless- they'll have power cables. While I haven't tried one, I seriously question their ability to produce quality sound. It also has no HDMI input and only 2x Analog, so no go on any HD codecs.

I just can't see this as being a very good purchase. Sorry to pop your bubble on all fronts.

Why a Sony? Try other brands in the same price range. Sony's htib have 10% THD and that's a no, no. Look for a Panasonic or something like that.

Don't you mean .09%? 10% is pretty huge!

Nope, look at the Sony site and all of them (unless I missed one) are 10%.

Model Number: HT-SS2300
Audio Power Output : 1000W (143w x 5 + 285w (1KHz, 10% THD))

Most digital amplifiers tend to have THD like that. From my limited testing, it hasn't bothered me.

The total harmonic distortion, or THD, of a signal is a measurement of the harmonic distortion present and is defined as the ratio of the sum of the powers of all harmonic components to the power of the Fundamental frequency. Lesser THD allows the components in a loudspeaker, amplifier or microphone or other equipment to produce a more accurate reproduction by reducing harmonics added by electronics and audio media.
