Default Onkyo 606 amd PS3

I was wondering how to best set up this receiver with the PS3. I'm also gona have to mount speakers on the wall but since my TV can't be exactly positioned in the middle, one of the side speakers for the surround sound will be farther apart from the listening position the other. Is there a function in the receiver to compensate for that?

thanks!

Make sure that your PS3 is set to "linear pcm" under the audio settings. It should be hooked up with a HDMI 1.3 cable from the ps3 to one of the 4 hdmi inputs of your 606. Make sure your 606 is set to straight, pure, or one of the other audio settings that doesn't let to reciever mess with it. Also, with the speaker distance differences, just make sure after you hook everything up to run the auto setup with the microphone supplied with your 606... good luck

In your ps3 audio setup, set it to linear pcm. As for the compensation for the speakers being out of whack, your Audessy calibration mic should help with that.

Thanks!
So the calibration mic included can make automatic adjustments or do you just have to feed some simple inputs into the receiver? Hope its not too complicated

It's easy, squeezy... all you do is plug in the mic (follow instructions mostly) and do the setup and the receiver will send out test tones and then the mic will automatically read how long it takes each tone from each speaker to get to the mic. It also adjusts for your room's acoustics... read the manual, follow the instructions and you'll be set.

no. 1.3 compliant just means they were tested to be 1.3 compliant. if your were made before 1.3 was even a standard, they couldnt have been tested. but they are fine I am sure.
