PS3 Controller Not Connecting

Neither of my Sixaxis controllers are connecting to my PS3. They had no problems before this.
I just moved my PS3 to the living room (have done this before) but I had all 4 USB ports in used before I turned it off (RB2). They can only connect when plugged in to the console and unplugging them gets them lost again.

Any solutions?

so when you connect it with the usb cable and connect it it's working but then when you unplug it it instantly disconnects? thats very strange

i would try holding your finger on the power button to reset it. may work

I have the same problem, I think it should be the battery that drained off.

I connect it with USB cable (charging) for an hours, then it works.

Try turning the PS3 off/on with the power switch on the back. That has helped me several times with various problems.

Okay, tunred it off and tried using the controllers to turn it on. Didn't work.

Turned the power off then on and tried again (both with the USB connected controller and not connected... nothing. The lights on the controller blink for about three seconds before turning off.

So I have no idea.

SUCCESS!!!

I turned on the PS3 manually, plugged the controller in, pressed the reset button on the bottom of the controller and it worked. I unplugged it to make sure and did the same to the other controller. I also turned off the controllers and turned them back on to be double sure.

That was going to be my suggestion. This situation happens to me once every six months or so with one controller. I always just press the little reset button on the back of the controller itself and it works everytime.

vegeta88, thank you for opening this thread! I just had the same exact issue, the only issue I ever had with my PS3 since November 2006. On Thanksgiving night we took our controllers to our friend's place who also has a PS3. After returning home one of the controllers would not register. I tried everything I could think of and nothing helped. I just stumbled upon this thread and tried the trick you suggested above - and it worked. The key is though to press and hold the reset button on the bottom of the PS3 controller for more than 5 seconds.
