SUCCESS!!!
I turned on the PS3 manually, plugged the controller in, pressed the reset button on the bottom of the controller and it worked. I unplugged it to make sure and did the same to the other controller. I also turned off the controllers and turned them back on to be double sure. Thanks for your help everyone.
