Default Looking for help to buy a Receiver

Hi

I'm new here and I'am looking for help as I don't know which receiver shouls I buy. BTW I live in Canada

I'am looking at something around 1000$:

I was looking at the YahamaRX-V863
or the Pioneer VSX-01TXH

If anyone of of you could help me it would be great or if you think another brand or model would be better don't hesitate to say it.

I want a 7.1 AV Receiver as I have a 7.1 Speaker system (Energy the C series)2 Towers C-500, the biggest Center(CC-100), 2pairs of the second biggest back speakers ( i think it's the C-200(two for the suround and 2 for back), the 10 inch Sub and (S10.3)

I'm also looking for a projector and I will be playing my
PS3 and Blu-ray on this AV

Pioneer all the way. I have the PIONEER 9120 and 9130 is 1000.00 in Calgary. Just bought the VSX-01 for a friends HT. Awsome receiver with full 1080 conversion. Can be bought in Calgary for 698.00 and comes with a factory 3 yr warranty.

I think you would be happy with either one of these. I am biased towards Pioneer right now and am going to reccomend it to you because they sound great.

someone on the trade forum is selling a Marantz SR-7002 for $850 (US) shipped.... not sure if he'd ship it to Canada, but you should consider it, as it's a great unit (and great price)

Thx but the problem with Marantz is that there is no service in Canada. if a problem occurs it could get costly for me

The price for the VSX-01 (900$) the same as the RX-863 (900$) but there is a special for the RV-1800 of Yahama for (950$)

i have the rx-v1700 and can not say enough good things about it. at 45lbs, it is a beast. and yes, weight is an important factor in receivers.

The Pioneer and 863 are nice receivers as well, but I would take the 1800 over both of them if you have some extra cash.

Or you could consider the Yamaha HTR-6190B......the counterpart equivalent of the RX-V1800. You should be able to pick that up for $1,000 or maybe even less, especially at this time of year. I bought mine at FS last year for $1,100 (regular $1,500), but the price on them has dropped.
