Default Question for Buffy/Angel Fans

Watched Buffy years ago, have only seen the first 4 seasons, so 2 to go. Just recently picked up the complete collection. And I intend on getting the complete series run of Angel in the very near future as well. My question is, never having watched Angel, at what point should I start watching Angel, while I'm still watching Buffy? Or could I watch the complete run of Buffy, then Angel. Just wondering about the timeline, and when I should start watching the Angel series, as it regards to Buffy

Cheers!!

Angel started when Buffy season 4 started... that season specifically there are quite a few x-overs, so watch the two con-currently.

Three of the main characters of Buffy join Angel (including him) on it's 1st season. Later on Darla and Drusilla go on Angel, with Darla becoming a HUGE character. After Buffy s7 Spike is a main character on Angel S5.

Besides that Willow, Oz, and Buffy are featured in at least one Angel episode.

Watch a season of Buffy then Angel, Buffy then Angel, etc. or certain parts won't make as much sense.

You'll find that Angel starts slow in season one, then has a much better seasons 2-4. Season 5 radically re-designed the show, as Buffy was no longer on the air. Season 5 alienated a lot of fans, as everybody began acting completely out of character, and the storylines kinda sucked. The series was cancelled at the last minute and a final episode was hastily thrown together with a completely unsatisfying ending.

While I really enjoyed season 3 and (especially) 4, this might just be a rental series at best. I sold mine off right after I watched them.

I LOVED s5. Easily one of my favorites.

Gunn was so much better. Illyria > Fred.
