just a quick question:

why have amazon stated many titles as R1 when the link says they're region free? is it simply that amazon have stated the region wrong?

Yes, Amazon does not have correct region information. They are set up to use the old DVD region system, and assume all North American releases are region 1. This has no application to Blu-rays, where North America is now region "A," and not all releases are even region coded. I would never trust Amazon for region information, and use sites like here or blurayregioncodes.com instead.
