Default HDMI for an older Xbox

My son has an xbox that is about 2 years old. He just bought a Samsung LN40A550 LCD flat panel and the only connection he has is the composite cables that came with the xbox.

Does someone make an HDMI cable that will work with an older xbox?

Will these older xbox consoles output 1080p?

you're asking because the xbox doesn't have hdmi right? component will do 1080p, that's all he needs.

Yeah, I thought HDMI was needed for 1080p. Thanks for the info, I'll pick up some component cables on Amazon.

Alternately you could use the VGA adapter if the TV has that type of PC input (it should), but component is fine.

The core console doesn't. Only the Elite and Pro come with component.

It all depends on your TV. Component video cables can deliver 1080p, but the TV has to be able to accept a 1080p signal through component inputs (which most don't).

the xbox 360 does not support High definition audio so he will get the same sound from his HDMI as he would if he uses optical. Also the component only works up to 1080p and a few select tvs.

Component Video Inputs: The 2 sets of component video inputs will accept 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i signals. Component Video 1 can also be used as a composite video input.
i realize it probably means accept and not display, but it'll be fine. its not like the 360 has tons of 1080p games
