As I've already posted I purchased the fronts and center listed above and am loving the sound. However, like most humans, I'm never completely satisfied
![]() How can I get deeper dialog from theses speakers with my Yamaha V663 receiver? When I bought the center the sales person mentioned "James Earl Jones" for dialog type and I'm not exactly getting that. It's not as deep as I would prefer. I used YPAO with no modification after. Last time I tried to mod before running YPAO and it didn't sound so hot. Should I use bi-wiring? I only have one receiver so don't think I can bi-amp. Should I just try to tweak the eq? Problem there is I don't know which frequencies to tweak. I know from older car stereo hobby, left to right is typically low/mid/high. Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Something else I notice is Blu-rays give off high end dialog depending on the movie. Some sound incredible, others not so much...wut up with that? Dynamic Range is off on ps3 and receiver.... |

What is the frequency response on your center? Mine goes down to 82hz, but Audyssey used to try to set it at 100-120 and I'd always reset to 80 myself. Then as someone on here suggested, I "decoupled" my center from the shelf it was on, by placing some foam underneath and Audyssey began to detect it at 80 on it's own.

I've generally read you want to give some leeway for your crossover points, so if you have a speaker that goes down to 45hz, setting it to 50 is a bad idea as you'll end up losing some range. I've read that 20hz difference is good. THX recommends 80hz crossover points for home theater. I have mine all set to 80hz currently and I have no issue with dialog going over to the sub- even with movies like Transformers.
That said, play with your crossover settings and find a point where it sounds like what you want it to. It's not bi-amping or bi-wiring that's going to change that. |
