So I went out the first week and bought WallE to playon my new HP laptop with a blu-ray player. I've played planet earth in Blu-ray before with no trouble, but I can not get Quickplay to play any video or audio of WallE. It just starts the clock counting as if a movie is playing but nothing shows up.
I have looked at some threads and have updated Quickplay to 3.7, removed, reinstalled, and updated all drivers, and I still can't get this to play. I'm not sure what the problem is, but everytime I start Quickplay after I upgrade it says "a new version of Quickplay is available, Upgrade now?" even though I have just upgraded to 3.7. Can anyone help with this or is it a lost cause? Last edited by hpriah; 12-08-2008 at 08:35 PM. Reason: misspelled "play" oops! |

So, I got PowerDVD 8 Ultra - and was so excited the WallE bluray worked - at first. It got through all the previews and "coming to Blu-Ray" then just stopped. It went to a black noiseless screen after that. Whats going on?

Is the machine set to run on "performance" and not "adaptive"?
In other words, is the processor running at full speed or is it being throttled? Screensaver trying to kill the screen? Power settings trying to backoff the computer after a certain time? Has Hardware Acceleration been disabled? Is there some little spinning thing in the middle of the screen when it goes black? Is the machine connected to the internet so it can pull the "update" that the disc wants you to apply for BD-Live? |

I;m not sure about the "performance" settings - as you can tell, I'm not a computer wiz by any means.
The screen saver may be doing something, as I have not disabled it, but its only set to go off every 10 minutes, and the previews take less time than that, plus I was moving the mouse to fast forward. I'm not sure about the power settings, although I think it may be set to "power saver" setting, so I'll have to change that. I don't know what "hardware acceleration" is, so I'm not sure about this. There is no spinning thing, and it is connected to the internet, but it says there are no updates for PowerDVD when I tried to update. |

I recommend all computer users to get full fledged player software. PowerDVD 8 Ultra or ArcSoft TMT. |

Mine doesn't say anything about updates. What does that mean? Should I be turning off the internet or other settings? Or do I have to use the keyboard to press menu?

OK, so I tried this, I clicked ":Top Menu" and it resets the timer - as if something was playing, but it remains black and no audio.

Are you trying to display on two screens at once?
Ya can't! It won't let you. Has to be one or the other but not both. Be sure the display settings are set to a single display! Other than that, I am at a loss. ![]() It sounds like Hardware Acceleration is disabled, or HDCP is not playing nice or doesn't like something. |

Don't sweat it ... It can't play.
It's not your computer, it's the movie. It is very very common for new release movies not to play until an update for your player comes out. Many people, even those with hardware players can't play Wall-E General rule of thumb .... Don't buy a title until it is out for 6 months. |
