Default Onkyo TX-SR705 Zone 2 Issue

Hopefully someone can answer my question here:

I have the Onkyo 705 receiver and up until about three days ago, it was hooked up to an OLD (12+ years) Memorex DVD player. The hook-up was with the old composite A/V cable (not component, not HDMI). I had Zone 2 ON and connected to a Monster switch that powers 3 other zones throughout my house (Kitchen and 2 outdoor). The DVD player could play DVDs AND CDs through the primary zone AND Zone 2 perfectly with no problem.

Well three days ago I picked up a blu-ray player (Sharp 21U). Sound from CDs play from the primary source but NOT through Zone 2. I'm guess that this is an analog vs. digital issue, but I was wondering how I could fix this?

On another point, I need to update my DSP firmware because the Sharp BD player is bitstreaming DTS-HD MA and Dolby True HD signals, so I need a CD player to do that I'm told. Anyone have an idea of where I could pick up an old CD player? That could fix both my problems!

i found the fix on A/V forum. Connect composite cables from the cable box and DVD player to the receiver.

Sound comes out of Zone 2 now!

I assume you are using the line level outs from the receiver for zone 2 (and not powered zone 2) then you just need to run analog stereo audio (red and white wires) from the blu ray player to the same input as your HDMI is set to. So if you set the receiver to "DVD" to watch a blu-ray, then plug the red and white into the analog audio in for DVD. Then you should get the audio at zone 2 as well. I had the same issue with mine, the receiver won't decode the digital sound for the analog outputs.
