Default $500 tower speaker suggestions?

I am in the market for a set of tower front speakers. Price range is around $500 for each speaker. They can be big ugly bastards, but they need to sound big too. Here's what I need help with.

My current sound system is the Onkyo HT-S990THX 7.1 THX Home Theater Entertainment System.

I would like to upgrade my receiver to the Onkyo 805 when the price drops on it again. So my question would be which set of tower speakers would sound best with Onkyo receivers for the price range?

Just an FYI I'm most likely going to have to blind buy due to my geographical location. Also my center and surrounds will be the last things I upgrade, so that will be a ways away.

And lastly does the 805 allow for 2 subs to be firing at the same time? At some point I want to have two A2-300s. That won't cause power issues will it?

Thanks in advance.

Well I am a Polk fan so I will point you in this direction http://cgi.ebay.com/RTi-A9-Black-Tow...3286.m20.l1116
These are refurbs but this is direct from manufacturer so they are in brand new condition. And yes you can run 2 or more subs using a y splitter, these are self powered subs so it will not place a load on your receiver it might on your house though Good luck!!!

The Duevel Planets omni dispersion speakers from Urban Fidelity are beautiful, exotic, sexy, and $1,400 a pair. You will be the talk of the neighborhood.

I like the way they look and the presence they give. And I'm probably wrong in assuming this, but they are bigger so they make a bigger sound?

Haha, I'll pass. Those are some crazy looking speakers though.

Very nice speakers everyone suggested.

After some quick skimming I've narrowed it down to two. Either the eD A6 626 because of the price or the Diva 6.1s because the reviews are very positive.

Has anyone bought/demoed either of these speakers?

A quick question about the Divas though. Is shipping included in the price?

Free shipping on Internet orders. Here is the link to their specials page-
http://www.ozhometheater.com/ozht_specials

There are other sites that sell the Divas like the Audio Insider-

Youll have no problem splitting the SUB signal with a splitter.... The A2-300 has it own on board amp, so problems with power.

all you need is this....
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2455299

I picked one up from the local radioshack for I think 5 bucks....

Once I get enough to get the A2-300 myself.... I plan to just have one sub and have bass shakers in the couches.

I own the eD A6-6T6 towers, and I've never been happier. I came from a set of Polk Monitor 50's to these, because I wanted something with a little more "prescence". Most of my Car audio gear is eD, and I did some reading, and people seemed to like the towers. So I took the plunge after talking to Chris at eD. He assured me that they would take them back if I didn't like the sound. I am very happy with the overall sound of these speakers. They have some low range extension, and are not too "bright" either. They are a very warm speaker, with plenty of mid-bass and mid-range punch. I also grabbed an A6-6T6 MTM center channel speaker with the set, and it too, is a real nice speaker. Overall front stage for my system is really nice. I love the way it sounds.
Fairly tough but fair A6-6T6 tower review.

I will add these to the list. These speakers are high quality and very well built with an amazing finish on them.

Well...Damn..lol...

Ok, Zman2k2, do you feel your speakers are high enough quality and performance to not justify upgrading for a long time? Do you think there is another performance plateau that these speakers just can't give? Could I use these as surrounds at a later date?

I just don't want to upgrade speakers only to feel the need to upgrade again. So far I'm really buying into the Swan Diva 6.1 pair mostly for that reason. You can have them for 10 years and not need the upgrade.

Of course you could - I use Paradigm Monitor 11v4's as my surrounds.
Beautiful for 5.1 SACD's and DVD-A's.
