Default Best places in Japan to find Blu-ray?

There is tsutaya, yodobashi, bic camera and amazon.jp. I've been using amazon because so far they are the cheapest and delivered to my door next day for free of course. I bought a few at bic camera but a tad over priced and selection is minimal.

Any secrets?

Thanks

Are you actually in Japan? There's a place called Yamada Denki that's kind of like Best Buy.

I found the most awesome place in Kyoto,
Beaver Records: Kyoto-shi, Nakagyou-Ku,
Shin Kyougoku Dori, 4 Jyou,
Nakano-cho 538, Kyougoku Tohou Biru, 1F

Take the Hankyu railway all the way to the department store. Come up out of the station and when facing the 2 depato, do a 180 and go the opposite direction. Make a left at the Mr. Donut (you'll know you're on the right street if you see a big building with a sign for HMV records.

It's a small, out of the way place that has EVERYTHING huge game,CD, DVD, Blu-ray, VINYL, even musical instruments. When I was there over Christmas, they had a healthy selection of Blu (at least as much as HMV) with a few dozen used discs. Seriously, greatest Japanese used shop I've ever been in, and I've been in A LOT. Check out every inch. I went in there and dropped about 8000 yen when I was planning to drop 4000, and had trouble fitting all the CDs I got (180yen albums, including some CD singles in limited longbox packaging FTW!!!)

I am in Tokyo.

1) Visit amazon.co.jp
2) Copy the title names you are interested as described in amazon
3) Visit www.kakaku.com
4) Paste the title name you would like to purchase and search in kakaku.com
5) The search result page displays the list of online retailers along with the rate they offer in ascending order
6) Click on the title you would like to purchase and get redirected to the respective store

IMHO Japan sucks when it comes to product pricing.

Thanks guys..yeah I find kakaku to be the cheapest for most things but just haven't bothered to sign up.

I bought Sunshine and I Am Legend for a total of $74 at Amazon.jp and went right across the street to pay at 7/11 with my invoice I printed out myself. Next day, today, it was delivered at 9AM. Talk about easy peasy. I don't like using credit cards so printing out my invoice / bar code and paying cash at the 7/11 beside my is a dream. Also every where else these DVDs were yen 4400-4900. Mine were 3700-3900. FWIW Japan has the WORST Blu-ray selection ever.

HMV and Tower have pretty good discount cards from the literature I saw. Keep in mind I only looked in passing and my kanji isn't the best though

I import most of my Blus from Amazon.com, but when there's a Japanese disc I want I preorder it on Amazon.co.jp to get their 26% discount (although I hear it will be 23% soon if not already). If it's something that's already out and the Amazon discount doesn't apply, then I look for it used on auctions.yahoo.co.jp .

I dont need to fly or order BDs from Japan. Lucky for me there are several Japanese book/CD/DVD store called BOOK OFF where sometimes I would find used BD titles imported and domestic titles. Costing from $7 to $15 each.

The ones I've seen in Book-off always cost way more than that...

I've been renting Blus from Tsutaya's Netflix-like Discas service recently, it's a bit cheaper than renting from a normal Tsutaya. But the selection isn't too great and new releases usually don't show up for a while.

For used DVDs/Blu-rays and games, book-off tends to be a bit more expensive. Sometimes you can find a good deal there but you really need to search for it.

For used blu-rays and DVD's, I used to buy a lot at GeoGeo. They had good prices and fidelity card to boot. Tsutaya is in general more expensive than GeoGeo when it comes to used discs, but they usually have a wider selection. Still, best used disc deals I've had were also through Yahoo Auctions.
