As most of you know, the 2009 Golden Globe nominations have been announced. Although the GG itself is a very important achievement, many see its significance as a precursor and parallel to how the academy awards will unravel... the main difference being the holder of the vote (though the nominations or outcomes contrast greatly sometimes).
With that said, the Golden Globe nominees for best animated feature film are Wall-E, Kung Fu Panda, and Bolt. Having not seen Bolt, I at least fully agree with the first two nominations. But having seen Horton Hears a Who, I think that should definitely have been nominated as one of the best animated films of this year to say the least. Many of us suspect Wall-E to win by a landslide, but Horton is not even on the ballot ![]() |

Neither.
Bolt is a "cute" film which is almost a remake of "101 Dalmatians 2 - Patches London Adventure". Horton is a 30 minute cartoon dragged out to a feature-length film. Although I enjoyed both movies, especially Bolt, neither is worthy of a nomination. |

Easily Bolt.
For one Bolt plays better to adults and children. Sure there is your usual message but it's mixed in with lots of humor and action for all ages. I felt Horton played to a slightly younger audience at times, especially Jim's sometimes not so good over the top performance. Plus to me the original 26 minute version was just as good if not better, minus the animation of course.I did like Steve's performance and Jim's at times.I just don't think the story really needed to be an hour longer than the original. Both are good, but Bolt I will buy. |

I think Bolt was just thrown in there to have three nods. I saw Wall-E, the second best movie of the year next to The Dark Knight IMO that I have seen. Horton was goon but not great and Kung Fu Panda was good but not as good as Wall-E but better than the other two.
