Tip TV Delivery guys? - Blu-ray Forum

Well my tv is getting delivered, its about 100 pounds. Should I tip the freight guys? GF says not much and Im like yes! lol should I tip? Whats a good amount to tip? Theyll be carrying it up a flight of stairs btw.

I never have, just a soda.

the tv will be on a wood palet & truck will have a lift in the back + they normaly (should have) one of those 'little' things (you see them in Home depot) for moving heavy things.

When it comes to home delivery, setup, and maintenance, I tip anyone that delivers good service and is NOT the owner of the service company.

I'd give $20 or $40. Pay it forward!

My delivery was supposed to be to the door. The guy actually offered to bring it into the house for me, which I helped him with, and I gave him $10. He was very thankful ...as was I for the help over 3 stairs

Since I'm in the profession of living off tips. I'll share my definition of a 'tip.' A tip is a gratuity. A gratuity is a way of showing your gratitude for something a person has done for you. So how do you tip? Well, ask yourself. Did said person only perform what their job details them to do? Or did they go above and beyond? If so, how much above and beyond?? Here's another rule of thumb I go by when trying to figure a proper tip. If someone went out of there way for you and you want to give them a gratuity. Give them an amount that your not embaressed to give them. Now here's my rule of thumb. If you have to ask yourself, "Is this enough?" Then most likely, it's not. What may be good for you, may be too much to someone else. Remember, your showing your gratitude. So make sure your also happy with the tip you gave.

I usually give each person $20.00 when they delivery something large like a TV. For two years I lived on the 3rd floor, those years I tipped $40.00.

I am going to leave $40 bux here for when my tv is delivered. If there are 2 guys, they will get $20 each if they do everything correctly and are nice. If they are just so so, they will get $10 each.

It's Christmas. People enjoy getting surprise gifts and money is one of those good things to get. Secondly, I know I am not the one lifting a heavy tv off a truck, up stairs, in a house and all that hoopla. Even if they have the tools to do it, they still have to move it. So, tip them. I got free white glove delivery. I just paid $1,800.00 for a tv. Why be cheap and not tip the delivery guy(s) $10/20 each?

I also offer refreshments. Water, juice, soda, beer, whatever I have. It is common courtesy. I treat people how I would like to be treated. You will make this persons day.

I would tip them. I used to deliver furniture and hardly got tipped at all. And I would go as far a setting up the furniture in the house. Even if its just enough to buy a quick bite, I was happy to get anything.

I would look at it this way. You drive to a restaurant and tip a waitress for bringing food and drink to your table.

Don't you think you should tip the guy bring that prized possession of your new TV to your house?

I disagree with this attitude that people need tipped. I'm not into subsidizing peoples wages or in a larger sense their choice of jobs, which is how I view tipping. Especially when I've already paid for, in this case, a delivery and shipping charge. And if you got that for free, then that's their own problem.

Too each his own. But I'd really like to know where this seeming entitlement to tips began...
