Default Blu-ray Movies and Releases forum

How about we have a forum strictly for random Blu-Ray threads? In this forum, people can post your 100's of Best/Worst threads and other completely random threads that are constantly popping up. How about we do that, and let's keep the Blu-Ray Movies & Releases forum exactly what's it's suppose to be, strictly threads about specific Blu-Ray titles ONLY! Seriously, the constant BS threads in the main forum has gotten so ridiculous.

It's not a bad idea actually, the main problem is that the "Blu-ray Movies and Releases" forum simply has too much action nowadays.

Who here would like to split up the "Blu-ray Movies and Releases" discussion into 2 forums, one where you talk about specific releases and one with a bit more general talk about BD movies?

The problem is, I don't think it would really work anyway. It would take some time to get everyone acclimated to any change, and people might still post in the wrong place. The forums that were split up, in my opinion, were the already organized ones anyway (audio and video forums - do we really need an HTiB/Portable Music forum with 1 person viewing?) - those should be all compressed back together to some extent and the Blu-Ray Movies forum split.

For now, the random discussion forum can be created, and until everyone realizes that's where they need to post about random BD discussion, the mods can just be moving them all over there. Yeah it'll be some work on the mods for a while, but eventually people have to get the idea.

On top of that, we can have some more mods to monitor just for that.

i completely agree with you. ive noticed a lot of the forums that were recently split barely have anyone viewing them during the day. if anything bluray movies should be split up with specified sections dedicated to the movies, release information, wishlists, top 10 lists, etc. just my 2 cents.

Sounds like a good idea, wouldnt be too hard, just a little more work for the main mod as he will be moving alot of threads there. Ofcourse, after a short time people will get the drift.

Yeah that's right. But that's why I suggest considering adding more mods to the forum, or at least to that forum to keep an eye on the Blu-Ray Movies & Releases forum to keep the clutter out of there. I'll do it.

not a bad idea, a forum for strictly movie release talk, then an area for the off topic blu-ray chatter, but personally I like it the way it is, Theres always a topic to read, only issue is you gotta sift through the weeds sometimes

growing pains......Have to plan for the future or the forum will never grow. The point is to attract new members with the added forums, may take some time but it will happen. Come back in a year, if that one person viewing turns into 50 viewing then they were on the right track

does make good sense, but i would think that this being a bluray site first, movies/tvs/electronics/everything else discussion site second, that more members would be joining simply because bluray is a new medium and more and more people are picking up on it and/or are curious about it, not to discuss various types of tvs. but i dont know what goes on behind the scenes, and i know implementing new changes likely takes a while for the developers/mods so im sure they were all very well thought out.

We will of course always focus on Blu-ray, but you can't watch BDs without a TV or projector for instance. Then you will want sound = speakers... then a receiver... etc so BD and HT goes hand in hand, which is why we have expanded the HT sections. We will soon also split up the BD forums into hardware and software, but they will of course remain in the top of the forums because they are most relevant.

I'd prefer some kind of change over the mess of that forum currently. It's steadily gone downhill with off-topic...ness.

*edit* Hey, I like the changes you guys just made. The flow is much better and more intuitive.

That's right. First and foremost this board is about the Blu-Ray format. But it also needs to have other things, because not everybody wants to talk about Blu-Ray's all day long. They also want to have discussions about DVD releases, movies in the theatres, video games, TV shows, music, hardware, and just misc. talk. That's why you have to have multiple sections to attract all kinds of potential members. Keep them from going to afterdawn.com with computer forums, keep them from going to video game forums by creating our own here. It's not money making, but it is competition, this board vs. all other boards online, so you have to have variety. But my point with this thread is that we simply need to do something about the misc. BD talk in the main Movies & Releases forum. People are throwing that out the window because they don't have any better idea for a new thread than "best of...top 10 this, top 5 that, worst/best" threads. Those are what needs to stop.

you and some of the mods have provided good convincing reasons for the site's changes. i was mainly in agreement that there are too many "best bluray or definitive blurays or top 100 or top 50 or whatever" threads but what can you do? someone will always create them, although they do seem to have diminished over the last few weeks. plus i guess people showing interest in buying blurays is never a bad thing
