System Freezing - Blu-ray Forum

So on both Uncharted and Tomb Raider: Underworld, my system has a chance of locking up completely at certain spots. For Uncharted, it's when Nate and Elena are being chased by the...things. In TR it is near the end, the first time you see more than 1...huge...thing. It doesn't happen every time, but both games have been played on my system like 6 times or so each and it's about 50% of the time at THOSE SPOTS the system locks up.
Is it the games or is my system showing early signs of dying?

Most likely the blu-ray lens is dying. I have the same issues "freezing". If you have a blu-ray disc go ahead and play it to see if it freezes. If it does then it is your system. PS3 sucks.

I had that problem when I bought my 20 Gig during Launch. My second PS3 was the 60 gig after I sold my 20 gig. The 60 gig was flawless but had to sell it. Earlier this year, I bought a 40 gig but hated it and sold it shortly. Now I own a 80 gig MGS bundle and love it. I recommend you to buy the 80 gig MGS bundle when its available somewhere

I watch a ton of Blu Ray movies...the system is running nearly 24/7 and has since launch. It's a 20gb system with an added 7200 RPM 250gb hard drive. Apparently Home locked it up once as well, so I don't think it is the laser. It stuttered way back when but it stopped when I put in the new hard drive so I thought it was that. But this is a new hard drive and only very specific things that cause it. Like...every level in Uncharted is fine until that 1 spot.
