Hey all,
I have some quick questions. I have a JVC 61" HDTV LCD Rear Projection and to my knowledge its only 720p. The blu ray player I want is 1080p output. Will the picture be affected because I am using 720p? What exactly will happen? Should I upgrade to a 1080p TV? I keep getting mixed feedback. a lot of people are suggestion just using an upconversion DVD player and keep using DVD's because there is no difference between an upconverted DVD and Blu Ray. However people have argued that as well. Thanks Joe Last edited by Silentway; 12-19-2008 at 12:14 PM. |

There won't be any issues in terms of compatability as the player will output to the max resolution of the display.
There is no need to upgrade to a 1080P display, although depending upon how close you sit to the screen, you may benefit from the increased resolution. While upconverted DVD's can look very good, the fact remains that a Blu-ray has 6X the information on the disc and Blu-ray transfers are superior to their DVD counterparts. With a TV the size of yours you should see a benefit from the switch even at the lower resolution. |

OK that makes sense. I guess it porbably wouldnt be much differece. I see the blu rays playing in Best Buy and I am worried that when I take it home it wont look as sharp. I sit about 8 feet away from the TV, reclined probably more like 10

Your television will convert the signal to 720p that is still HD. A blu-ray player will make your movies more defined and richer in color. It's worth every penny and I have 720p television plus blu-ray. My friends have a 1080p tv and upconvert. Who's house would you like to be at? If you want HD go all the way.
