Default + or - on wire

how do I know which side is positive and negative? One side has a blue stripe on it and the other is just clear.

I do believe it doesn't matter just as long as your consistant on both ends of the wire. If you wanna use the blue stipe as your negative do that or use the other side, just remember how you do it.

Usually the "marked" side is positive.

Doesn't matter, it is all just copper wire.

Just make sure the + on the receiver goes to the + on the speaker, do the same for the -, and you will be fine.

That is ABSOLUTELY critical! Do not cross-wire!

The wire is not + or -, the wire merely sends carries the signal. Just make sure you are consistent when wiring (i.e. red to red, black to black). I know the monoprice wire has one side with black, I call that negative.

I asked the same question backed when I didn't know anything! All the above posts are correct, just make sure the same strand goes from either positive to positive or negative to negative. I use the marked one as the negative (black).

the actual wire has no polarity. you just need to to make sure that the cable connected to the + on the speaker is connected to the + on the receiver. the stripe that is usually on one of the wire casing is to help guide you in this process
