I am fairly new to these forums and I posted the message below on the newbie forum but after reading through this one, I thought that this question might be better addressed in this forum so I am re-posting.
Santa came early at our house and brought with him a new Panasonic DMP-BD55. I am brand new to Blu-ray so am hoping that someone can give me some guidance on set-up. Here is a list of my components: Pioneer Elite Plasma PRO-1140HD (hope to upgrade to 1080p Kuro soon) Denon AVR-2807 Receiver Panasonic DMP-BD55 Comcast HD Cable NHT Speakers and Sub Harmony One Remote Cable box is routed through the receiver via component cables and then outputed to the TV via HDMI (I have the upconvert set to on for the component inputs). I routed the BD55 through the receiver via HDMI and then output to the Plasma via the same HMDI as the cable box. Now the questions: 1) How do I know if my TV is capable of 24fps? I looked through the manual but can't seem to find anything that mentions fps. 2) My thought is that I do not want my receiver to do any conversion of sound or picture (want the use the BD55 settings). I noticed that the Denon has a setting called 'Pure Direct' mode. The description of this mode is that it "reproduces the sound with extremely high quality. The audio signals do not pass through the tone circuits, etc., and the display and surrounding circuits that could affect the audio signals are turned "OFF"." Am I thinking correctly here? If not, any suggestions on what settings I should use on my Denon. Also any other things that I am not thinking of are welcome. I am sure I will have more questions as I use and tweak more and more. Thanks in advance for your help (and patience). |
