Default Blu ray on a 17" Early 2008 Macbook Pro? Questions!

So, i've been obsessed. And I've found this bad boy:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Panasonic-slot-i...ht_3652wt_1041

Yes, thats a slot loading Blu ray player. A 12.7mm slot loading blu ray player in fact. It's interface is IDE/ATAPI.

Which, so far as i can tell, is the same interface as my current 17" macbook Pro.

My question to your Blu ray experts is this: If I paid the $200+ to buy this from China, installed it. Would I be able to watch commercial Blu rays via Bootcamp in Windows with PowerDVD?

Somebody else said they had "firmware issues" with newer BD's. Would this mean that I'd never be able to make my player/software BD 2.0 complient?

Please help!

I believe your video card would need to be HDCP compliant...so even if the drive and software meet hdcp requirements, the rest of the hardware chain may not.

Wait for 10.6

(I feel your pain...MacPro tower, cinema display...would really like to play BD, but will need a new video card and monitor to do it)
