What do you use for your front left and right? You would want them to all sound similar so that sound effects that move from your front left speaker through the center to the front right speaker all have the same tonality.

i have bose 161s front now and awia for center and rear speakers. also looking to replace all in time a few pieces at a time.
at this time its hard to hear voices during film play back, without turning thinks way up.
also all this is powered by onkyo 605 receiver.

Well, if you plan on replacing them all peice-meal then timbre matching won't be important with your existing fronts, but rather the ones you plan on purchasing. What kind of budget did you intend for this speaker or in total?

There are a lot of places online that offer 30 day in-home return policies that sell many different sizes of center speakers. You could check out Emotiva.com or Axiom Audio or Elemental Designs. They should have options that fit your budget.

You should go to a local audio shop and audition some speakers to get an idea of what type of sound you enjoy. Then you can make a more informed decision as to what appeals to you. They should have some entry level speakers to audition in this price range as well as their beefier brothers.
